Recording a podcast using Zoom and uploading it to YouTube is easy and accessible to everyone. So, if you want to get your ideas out to the world and engage with your audience, there’s no better way than recording your own podcast. The podcast landscape is constantly evolving and tools like Zoom can help make the process of creating a podcast easier and more streamlined than ever. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can use Zoom to record and upload your podcast to YouTube.

First you’ll need to start by setting up a Zoom meeting. Once that’s done, invite your podcast guests and let them know to join the call at the scheduled time. Before you can start recording you’ll need to enable the two settings for recording. In your Zoom settings, you’ll find the ‘record on this device’ setting, this should be enabled, plus the ‘cloud recording’ option, which will store the recording on Zoom’s servers.

Once you are certain that the settings are all enabled you may be ready to start the recording process. In your Zoom meeting, click on the ‘Record’ icon and the recording will begin. Make sure everyone is comfortable with the recording, as no one wants to be caught off guard and have embarrassing moments captured.

Once you have recorded the podcast, you can view it immediately in the Zoom window, or access it later from the recording list in the ‘Meetings’ tab of your Zoom account. The file will be saved as a .mp4 video, so you’ll need to convert it into an audio file for uploading to YouTube. One free program you can use for this is HandBrake.

Once you’ve downloaded HandBrake and opened it, you’ll be able to convert the .mp4 file. Click on the ‘Source’ button and select your .mp4 file from the recording list. For the output file select ‘Audio’ and choose the .mp3 format. Once it’s complete your audio will be ready for upload.

Now you can open up YouTube, create an account if you don’t already have one, and upload your podcast. From ‘My Channel’ select ‘Video Manager’ then click the ‘Upload’ button. Here you’ll be able to browse your hard drive for the converted audio file and select it.

Before you click ‘Upload’ you should add some information to your podcast like a title and description, as this will make it easier to find in terms of SEO. Once you are happy with the information click ‘Publish’ and your podcast will now be live on YouTube.

With tools like Zoom and HandBrake, the process of recording and uploading a podcast is now simpler than ever before. Having your podcast on YouTube can also open up a whole new world of potential listeners and help you to reach an ever-growing audience.
